LEARNING ENVIRONMENT SUGGESTIONS FOR SHERIDAN

Tim says
- we need more targeted/customized learning support programmes for different users
- we need formal integration of Learning Commons and Library spaces

REMEMBERED LEARNING EXPERIENCES

Post here your memories of learning experiences that were important to you, including the knowledge sources that made the learning special for you at that time.

Tim says
1. Playing professional football (aka soccer) I learned: "You win some, you lose some" (life smarts) and that one coaching size doesn't fit all (metacognition). Experience was the teacher in this case.

2. Teaching in China I learned something every time I had a conversation (the "new" is inherently instructional) if we're comfortable and open to it.

Sheridan Show and Share - Oct.21st, 2008. INTRO

After some introductory discussion of newlearning environment features at Sheridan and elsewhere, to make the presentation more experientially "authentic" we hope to spend some going through the exercise of designing an "ideal" learning environment for where we're at on the 23rd. This Blog is an important part of the session because it allows us to capture thoughts and then, as we wish, continue our conversations after the session.

BTW - EMLEEs stands for Emerging Learning Environments.

I am Taodhg [Tim] Burns, the session conceiver. I'm currently a Researcher/Special Project Assistant with Sheridan Library Services, working on a number of projects, including Sheridan Trafalgar's new Learning Commons, which opened in September 2008.
